Why do pets need special paint?

Everybody knows that pets can be much more sensitive to smells, chemicals and pollutants than human beings are. But, it is not only our pets’ ability to detect these chemicals that makes them more sensitive, the fact that they are generally smaller than humans makes them more likely to suffer serious health issues as a consequence of exposure.

Traditional paints can contain a cocktail of harmful chemicals, solvents and VOCs. We notice them as odors, but many of them do not smell and these pollutants can off gas from paint for several years. For animals, this problem is doubled, because they are in the habit of actively sniffing their environment and even licking, biting and chewing things that we would never put in our mouths. As a result, pets actively ingest the harmful chemicals that normally remain on walls, floors and doors.

What is so different about ECOS Pet Paint?

Unlike traditional paints, even those labeled as “environmentally friendly”, ECOS Pet Paints are non-toxic2 and have no traditional paint (polyurethane) odor, which can cause headaches, nausea, and respiratory issues. Developed twenty five years ago with a unique formulation, our products were originally designed for people with multiple chemical sensitivities, asthma, allergies and issues with everyday chemicals. For over two decades, we have provided world class, high quality paints and relief from noxious chemicals to discerning individuals around the world. Today we offer the same technology for pet owners, who are concerned for the health and well-being of their treasured companions.
