You have a baby on the way! While it is very easy to get caught up in how you want to decorate your new arrival’s nursery, we urge you to not overlook how important it is to ensure that your nursery is as safe as possible. Lullaby Paints has some thoughts on how to choose a crib.

Baby Proofing the Crib

When your little bundle of joy has been brought home, they will spend a lot of their time inside their crib. So it is imperative to make sure that your baby’s crib is free of potential danger.

You can begin by choosing a crib whose bars are no more than 2 and 2/8th of an inch apart. Having them wider than this measurement can risk having your baby slipping out of the safety of their crib. We also suggest that parents choose a crib that has fixed sides. Drop-side cribs can pose a danger to infants through malfunction. Another crib safety tip is to stay away from ones that have corner posts, as a baby’s clothing could become caught, which risks strangulation.

A firm mattress that fits within the crib is our final safety tip. Choose a mattress to ensure that there is no more than two fingers of space in between the mattress edge and the frame of the crib, so that your baby has less risk of getting trapped between the two.

Once you have ensured the safety of your child, it’s time to pick out the color of your little one’s nursery. Choose the certified, award-winning Lullaby Paints! To learn more call 1 (866) 587-3586 or click here and we will answer your questions.
