We think it's pretty safe to say that everyone was shocked when Pantone released not one, but two colors of the year for 2016: Rose Quartz and Serenity. The colors were chosen together because of their combination of warmth and tranquility. However, there was an unnamed pastel purple lost in the ombre between the Pantone picks. We're proud to feature the unsung hero of 2016 for all of your nursery design needs, Violet Pearl. And today we're sharing a design board showcasing this hue in a natural and neutral nursery.
Our time with our newborns isn't measured in weeks or months, it's measured in firsts. First smile, first word, first tooth, and of course those monumental first steps. But before your baby develops her land-legs, she learns to crawl. And once she gets going, she won't stop. Sometime after 6 months you will find yourself chasing your little adventurer as she scoots, wriggles, and crawls her way to freedom. With all of that time exploring on the ground, you want to make sure that your baby crawling on safe surfaces. Here's a list of 9 natural, non-toxic area rugs for your nursery that don't skimp on style a bit.
If there is one design trend in 2016 that we can’t ignore, it’s the rise of neutral colors. The welcoming warmth of creams, tans, and off-whites show that you don’t need a bright color to make a bold statement. Esther from Buy Modern Baby has created a lovely neutral nursery design inspiration board with layers of soft textures with quiet colors, creating an ambiance matched only by a Robert Frost poem. Her color palette gives an impression of a winter day, but her mix of soft fabrics makes the design feel like a warm cup of cocoa. This inspiration board was inspired by Luna Moon by Lullaby Paints — a gentle neutral that makes you feel as if you’re walking through a forest over a crisp layer of snow and sticks.
You have a baby on the way! While it is very easy to get caught up in how you want to decorate your new arrival’s nursery, we urge you to not overlook how important it is to ensure that your nursery is as safe as possible. Lullaby Paints has some thoughts on how to choose a crib.
Did you know that baby play gyms do a whole lot more than just entertain your little ones? They actually provide a bunch of developmental benefits, as well. That's why occupational therapist Christie Kiley recommends them as one of the top toys for baby's first year and encourages parents to use them from day one. She says baby play gyms help with cognitive development, visual perception, grasping and reaching skills, gross motor function, self-awareness, and sensory stimulation. Who would've known? While there are tons of play gyms to choose from these days with all sorts of bells and whistles (literally), we're fans of eco-friendly options with non-toxic finishes. Not only are they better for your baby and the planet, natural wooden baby gyms are also easier on the eye (in our opinion). Today, we’re sharing 10 non-toxic wooden baby gyms for every budget to help you find the perfect match for your baby. And make sure to tell us your favorite in the comments below to enter our giveaway -- One lucky winner will receive $200 for zero-VOC* Lullaby Paints!
What's trending in nursery design for 2017? Chelsie Turner, manager of My Cup of Tea Baby, says the woodland aesthetic is hot, hot, hot. "We're seeing a lot of woodland creatures, dark wood, arrows and deer," explains Turner. "It's good because it's gender neutral and there are so many people who don't find out if the baby is a boy or girl so it's an easy gender neutral theme to go with." A woodland themed nursery is a classic design, but it doesn’t have to remind you of a musty hunting lodge or be full of overly cute cartoon character animals. Take a modern approach to this classic design for a baby (or kid’s) room that feels fresh, clean, and bright, but still has the organic feel of nature. With the right decor choices (as Turner notes), you can even use this design concept in a gender neutral way. Move over Paul Bunyan and Davy Crockett, here’s our modern woodland nursery inspiration for all future nature lovers.
