Lullaby DIY: Chalkboard Stacking Blocks

Lullaby 11/26/2013

Today's Lullaby DIY comes from Katie at Tied Ribbon and her project couldn't be any easier. She used our Lullaby Paints Chalkboard Kit in Sharp Cheddar to create these adorable, fun, and DIY chalkboard stacking blocks for her son. Here's how:

Step 1: Assemble your supplies.

You'll need wooden blocks (any size you choose), a Lullaby Paints Chalkboard Kit (which includes paint, a roller, a tray, and chalk), and newsprint or something to protect your work surface.

Step 2: Paint the blocks.

Paint the blocks and let them dry for a couple of hours. Once they're fully dry, paint a second coat. Even if they don't look like they need it, these DIY chalkboard blocks will likely take a bit of a beating, so give them that extra coat for added durability.

Step 3: Season the DIY chalkboard surface.

To prepare the chalkboard blocks for use, take a piece of chalk (also included in our Chalkboard Paint Kits) and rub the edge over each side of the chalkboard blocks until it’s completely covered in chalk. Wipe off using a damp cloth.

Step 4: Enjoy!

We love the simplicity of this idea - and the endless hours of fun these blocks are sure to bring!
