A few weeks back, celebrity nursery designer Shalena Smith reached out to us to see if we'd be willing to donate paint for a nursery makeover for a special, deserving couple. The nursery design was inspired by the one Shalena created for Tamera Mowry-Housley's baby daughter Ariah and it was a surprise for an expecting mom and dad who had both recently lost their jobs. The gorgeous reveal was aired on the Mother's Day special of daytime talk show, The Real, and then Shalena recorded a video describing how she recreated the celebrity design on a dime. Check out these luxe looks for less tips from celebrity nursery designer Shalena Smith.
We've written about some pretty unusual and creative nursery design concepts, but steampunk is probably the furthest from the conventional that we've ever seen. Never heard of steampunk? Let’s see….how to describe it…..it’s sort of equal parts Charles Dickens’ Victorian storybook, industrial revolution cogs, gears, and machinery, with a bit of futuristic punk mixed in. According to the Urban Dictionary, "Steampunk is a subgenre of speculative fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting. It could be described by the slogan 'What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner.'" Is this what you're looking for for your baby's nursery or child's room? We took a look into the world of steampunk nursery ideas and found some very beautiful, incredibly interesting, and extremely unique items that could be used as decor and design inspiration for your project. Enjoy!

Imagine drastically reducing or even obliterating your rent or mortgage payments! Living in a smaller space is also appealing from an environmental standpoint; it significantly reduces energy usage and conserves natural resources, as well. You might think "tiny home with kids, impossible." But there are countless examples of families living tiny and loving it across the nation. But how do you squeeze 3, 4, or 5 people into a household that’s only a few hundred square feet? Or manage getting alone time? From carving out personal space to purging your property, we’ve compiled some advice and tips on how to survive tiny living with kids.
First published in 1943, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery has been a beloved story around the globe for over a century about a pilot stranded in the desert who is visited by the apparition of a little prince. Some say it's a children's book written for grown-ups since the story reads very philosophically and can be interpreted in so many ways. The illustrations are equally as ethereal and serve as the inspiration for today's mood board. Check out our latest storybook nursery design - The Little Prince.
